Semur-en-Auxois, Chablis and Paris airport

We visited Semur-en-Auxois and its church on the way to Chablis where we dropped off Malcolm and Raylene and then drove to Charles de Gaulle airport to drop off the car and return home a little earlier than planned.

Château de Sully-sur-Loire

Malcolm and Raylene visited the Hospice de Beaune in the morning and then in the afternoon went with Matthew to the Château de Sully-sur-Loire. They viewed it from all four sides.

Linden came out for our last dinner and evening in France but she didn't try the escargot.

Sunday in Beaune

Matthew, Malcolm and Raylene did a wander round the village in the morning, including the church.

Matthew and Raylene did the Marché Aux Vins tasting but just 2 whites in the cellar and 3 reds from a machine upstairs - nowhere as as good as it used to be.

We all did the petite train later in the day and Matthew had French onion soup for dinner while Linden had NZ vegemite soldiers.

Beaune

We drove from Bonnieux, via Avignon where we dropped off Cherry at the railway station and then picked up Malcolm and Raylene from the TGV, via Lyon to Beaune. Had time for a pre-dinner walk around the heart of the town before dinner not far from our accommodation.

First meal was beef bourguignon with a glass of Burgundy of course.

Last full day at the Provence villa

Our first and only rainy day. We went to Lourmarin market, where the weather was better, and then drove through Cadenet and Vaugines before lunching in Bonnieux.

Afternoon was spent packing before the caterers arrived with our last dinner.

And we finished the night with a little bit of singing.

On Saturday we go our separate ways. We drop Cherry off at Avignon before driving to Burgundy with Malcolm and Raylene.

Saignon and Roussillon

Went to Saignon with its scary viewing points but rewarding views.

And then on to red Roussillon where we watched people gather for a wedding in the town hall while we ate lunch across the road.

We had dinner in. Doug and Carolyn cooked us a fantastic meal.
