Menerbes and Oppede-le-vieux

We spent the day with Malcolm, Raylene and Pete and went first to Menerbes. Here we are standing in front of what used to be Peter Mayle's local, the Cafe du Proges.

The village's most famous resident was photographer, painter, and poet Dora Maar. She was Picasso's lover for about ten years and he bought her the house above which she lived in for a long time.

The views from Menerbes are spectacular..

We went into a church built in 1734. It's about 600 years younger than the oldest church in the village which was built in the 12th century.

Then we went to Oppede-le-vieux and slogged our way up to the restored church above the village which is thought to date from the 10th or 11th century.
