Venus de Milo

We’re staying just below where the Venus de Milo was found in a cave on 8 April 1820 by a Greek farmer. It is now widely agreed that the statue was created by Alexandros of Antioch between 150 and 125 BC. It is one of the world's most recognized artworks. A replica statue was erected here last year.

The original statue has been in the Louvre Museum in Paris since 1821, apart from a few years during World War Two when it was moved and hidden from the Germans

This morning we went to the Plaka to do some shopping, sightseeing and have lunch.

Ladenia is Milos' traditional pizza style food made with onions, sweet cherry tomatoes and olive oil.

Grant, Siobhan, Andrew and Tracey visited us this afternoon and came back for dinner at the seafood restaurant near us, and again we watched the sun set as a cruise ship timed its departure from Milos perfectly.
